Creating an Alarm System With a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)
This is a group report for a lab where we made a mockup home security system with a PLC, HMI, and a board mounted with various home intrusion sensors. The HMI had a keypad where the user could enter a code to arm or disarm the sensors. This lab was valuable for learning the basics of PLC programming. I ended up teaching this lab myself as a Graduate Teaching Assistant a year after I took the course. Through this experience I became familiar with teaching PLC code, helping students debug code, and reading through the code in student reports.
